Bad Decision Hot Sauce is a Florida hot sauce company based in Royal Palm Beach, in Palm Beach County, about ten miles west of West Palm Beach. The recipes were developed there, and the five sauces are produced and bottled for us in Jacksonville, Florida. We sell at South Florida farmers markets and online at BadDecisionHotSauce.com.
Florida has a real claim on hot sauce. The state grows peppers year round, and its food is shaped by Caribbean and Latin American cooking, where pepper sauce is not a novelty item but something that lives on the table. Bad Decision comes out of that, specifically out of Puerto Rican pique.
Is Bad Decision Hot Sauce a Florida company?
Yes. The company is based in Royal Palm Beach, Florida, in central Palm Beach County. That is where the recipes were developed, where the business is run, and where online orders are packed and shipped.
Royal Palm Beach sits just west of West Palm Beach, near Wellington and Loxahatchee, which is why you will see the brand described as a Palm Beach County or South Florida hot sauce as well as a Florida one. All three are accurate.
Where are the sauces actually made?
In Jacksonville, Florida. We think it is worth being precise about this, because "made in" gets used loosely and the two halves of the answer are different places.

So the sauce is Florida-made in both senses: designed in Palm Beach County and produced in Florida rather than out of state. What we do not do is bottle it by hand in Royal Palm Beach — the production is done properly, in a commercial facility, by people whose job that is.
How did it start?
Eli Perez started making these sauces in his Royal Palm Beach kitchen. The starting point was pique, the Puerto Rican table sauce: peppers and garlic in vinegar, the way it is done in Puerto Rico. Short ingredient lists, nothing complicated, vinegar doing most of the work.
That is still the shape of all five bottles. Peppers, vinegar, garlic, salt and spices do most of the lifting, and the ingredient list on each label is short enough to read in one go.

Every bottle is 5 FL OZ (148 ML), about 30 servings at a teaspoon each. All five are gluten free. Ignored The Warning is the only one that contains mustard. There are also three bundles, including a five-bottle set that runs the whole scale.

At South Florida markets, mainly in Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast. For the current season we are at the Royal Palm Beach Green Market on Saturdays from 9 AM to 1 PM, running from mid-October through late April, and at the Florida Creatives Market in Port St. Lucie in early October.
